Dear Reader
Some folks show too little respect for security guards. For example, one of the more common epithets used to refer to a security officer is “rent-a-cop.” And I have heard worse. Some people are downright offensive towards guards. To gain perspective about how at least some people view them, one need merely observe how they are portrayed in the movies: as people who are at once disheveled, slightly confused, and semi-somnambulant. This stereotype is largely undeserved.
